DESIGN TRIFECTA

I consider the background, clipart and fonts to be the trifecta of a great design. These are the 3 things you will need in order to create any amazing design. After this, you can add additional effects to enhance what you're making.

FILE TYPES NEEDED

When sourcing graphic elements, make sure they have a resolution of 300dpi. This ensures that your design prints out clear and is not blurry.

Background digital papers are usually 12x12inches, 300dpi jpeg files. This should be the standard you are looking for.

For clipart and characters, you want to look for 300dpi PNG files. PNG files have a transparent background, which is what you want. If using a jpeg file, you would have to take the extra step of removing the background, which you can prevent by using PNG images instead.

So, when searching for designs add "PNG" to the end. For example, if searching for an elf, search "ELF PNG"

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR GRAPHICS

Below is a list of places and designers that I recommend for graphics. The great thing about these designers is that it includes (or you can purchase) a commercial license for them. No need to worry about copyright infringement for using they're clipart. Another bonus about the sites I've provided, they all offer free designs to try out (with the exception of Etsy).
